CAROLINA WAGEMANS, introduced in 1992 by Cor and Nel Geerlings of the Netherlands. (The Geerlings have introduced many famous varities, including Cornel!) They named it after their friend Carolina Wagemans - a native of the Netherlands who had moved to America but remained a close friend. The Geerlings sent many dahlias to the Wagemans through the years. Carolina passed this past spring but her daughter has carried on the legacy! This variety is a poor tuber maker, but growers love her blooms so much, that many keep her going through pot tubers and/or cuttings to keep her genetic material alive!
